About this detail of the Tiger
This model kit from Fujimi provides decals for 3 Tigers but the kit's features do not match all of the real Tigers.
The kit can build only an "early" Tiger constructed in February or March 1943, and even then it requires a couple of corrections.
The decal sheet provides (incomplete) markings for the famous Tunisian Tiger "712", but this Tiger was a much earlier version than the kit builds. It had different side skirts, different exhaust shields, a different layout of the top deck, a turret with 2 pistol ports and no hatch, and a different turret bin.
Another set of decals in the kit is for "323" of s.Pz.Abt.503. There is one major problem here; the real Tiger had a unique slanted turret bin, but the kit includes only the standard bin. This Tiger also lacked the tool stored on the bottom rear right of the back wall, but you can cut it off the kit. The real Tiger didn't carry exhaust shields; you should omit the kit's shields, as well as the caps on the exhaust stacks (part D4).
The third Tiger on the decal sheet is the famous "131", again from Tunisia. These decals are the most appropriate ones for the parts in the kit. However Tiger "131" did not carry S-mine launchers, so you should omit parts C52, C16 and C17. The tank had its headlights removed while it was in Tunisia, so you could also omit parts C35 and C36. The biggest problem with the kit's representation of "131" is that the real Tiger had a flat mantlet, but the kit's mantlet has the raised ridge at the gunner's eye openings.
