About this detail of the Tiger
The front mudguard of the Tiger 1 was held in place by a catch at its front corner. As seen above on the Bovington vehicle, there was a loop on the front corner of the mudguard, and a curved piece of metal welded to the hull below it.
A metal rod, not seen in these photos, hooked into the loop and a hole on the fixed piece. Its length was adustable as far as I know.
The photo above shows the catch on the left side of the vehicle. The final reduction gear is removed at this stage of restoration.
While we're looking at the mudguards, this photo shows the appearance of their underside. Note that the side flaps can be locked in the horizontal and vertical positions.
