About this detail of the Tiger

The first Tigers were issued without adequate storage for the crew's belongings. One Tiger, numbered '100', was captured by the Russians and put on show. It had a custom-made stowage bin on the left side of the turret.

This is a small sample from a photograph, showing the bin. Note that it is a small distance ahead of the pistol port. Also, note that there are two supporting strips, welded to the turret; and the bin is held by two bolts in each strip.

Left side bin

This is a small sample from a photograph of the right side of the turret. There is no doubt that these two strips are of the same kind, and therefore a bin was present on the right side also.

Right side bin supports

Dragon provide both bins in their kit. Unfortunately, they have positioned both bins equally far forward. As a result, the right-hand bin blocks the view from the vision port, which is further back than the left-hand port.

Right side bin and port

The rear strips are missing, but a photograph exists that clearly shows the remaining weld outlining their position on the turret side. From that, it is clear that the right-side bin was located a little further back than the left-side bin.

Correct bin position

These photos show the best position that I can figure for the bin. I also believe that the welded strips on the turret side are a little too long.
