This kit has two mudflaps at the rear. Dragon used the same mudflap parts for both Early and Late Tigers, although the real tanks had slightly different mudflaps. To adapt the parts for an Early Tiger, you are instructed to cut out a prepared area. The areas are shaded on this diagram, taken from the instructions.
But the parts won't be accurate for an Early Tiger even after you make this change. There are two tiny notches on each part, which I indicate in this photo. They should not exist in a mudflap that has the cutouts that you made.
This is a real mudflap of the appropriate type. As I point out, it has no notches. The flange continues all the way up to the hinge.
You can correct Dragon's mudflaps with e.g. small pieces of plastic card.
