About this detail of the Tiger
This is the turret roof fan in the Dragon kit. It correctly reproduces the following details :
The fan unit is 15mm to the right of the turret center.
The six catches at the base of the fan are rotated to avoid the cupola.
The fan had a removable cap. This was NOT a rain protector; it was necessary only for underwater travel. The underwater capability of the Tiger was deleted shortly after the new cupola was introduced, but not all of the related components were removed from the design. I know of only a single photo that shows the cap fitted to the fan (the vehicle has Pilze and therefore is a very late build). But Tigers were probably delivered from the factory with the cap in place.
If you assemble the cover as supplied in the kit, this is the result. Obviously it is not waterproof! Also, the screws do not line up with the catches on the fan base.
To correct this, you must completely remove the roof supports from the fan unit.
The cover will then sit correctly [1] on the base.
