About this detail of the Tiger
Photo coverage of Mid Tigers in s.Pz.Abt.502 is poor. It seems that at one point, multiple Tigers - perhaps the entire 2nd Company - were marked with the single digit '2'.
This photo of Tiger 211 shows that the '2' was overpainted when it was assigned its tactical number.
