About this detail of the Tiger
There are five different mantlets supplied in Border's "Kursk Tiger" kit. This is a welcome feature of the kit, because the Tiger's mantlet was cast in several different styles, especially in early 1943.
One specific style of mantlet was the official one, drawn by the tank's designers. But there were variations in how this "correct" mantlet was made. In early 1943, it was made with very rounded corners in the places marked here.
Border have supplied this part to represent the "official" mantlet. But they made very sharp corners at the places where the crossbar meets the edge. Mantlets like this were commenplace but they are typical of 1944, not early 1943.
