The height of the Tiger
The Tiger was designed to carry its hull roof exactly 1800mm above the ground, when sitting on a solid surface with normal loading.
In this configuration, the track run along the top of the rear roadwheels would carry on to the top of the idler wheel without bending upwards or downwards. Numerous photos support this analysis.
This is a well-maintained Tiger sitting on flat ground. The track rises by only about 10mm to reach the top of the idler wheel.
The height of the model
The model's roof should be 112.5mm (4.43 inches) above the ground, with the tracks on.
But if you assemble this kit as per the instructions, then your Tiger may sit unusually high off the ground.
Suspension options
The kit gives you three different ways to set the height of the model. The swing arm (parts R6+R9) has a small pin on it. According to the instructions, the pin may optionally be removed. If you remove it and you don't glue the arms, the plastic torsion bars (part R5) will give you a movable suspension. They will also set the resting height of the model.
If you leave the pin in place, the pin will lock into a hole in the hull side and set the height of the model. There are reports that it's too high in this case.
And, thirdly, you can remove the pin and glue the arms at a height of your own choosing.
