The tank has two hatches in the forward hull. Each of them has a simple cover for a periscope that is embedded in it. This CAD image shows the periscope cover on a hatch.
But the kit's covers are obviously too low. They scale up to a height of about 60mm, whereas the real ones were 75mm tall. This photo of a Tiger hatch makes the difference clear.
This model, made very precisely to German specifications, shows how a real periscope would fit under the cover with only millimeters to spare. The kit's undersized cover therefore makes it impossible to place the periscope as high as it should be.
