On the Tiger's glacis plate, in front of the driver's port, there was a thick protective steel bar. A long, shallow slot was cut into the surface of the plate so that this bar could sit solidly into it.
The slot was cut by a rotary tool, and the workers didn't waste time making a perfect rectangular slot. They simply ran the tool along the required distance, leaving rounded ramps at each end of the slot. Here is one of them.
A slot exists on the kit also, but it doesn't match the real one. It is equally deep all the way to the ends. Here is the kit's glacis plate before applying the bar. If the factory had a tool that could make this kind of slot, it would not have extended beyond the bar.
