Star antenna pot
This kit builds either a standard Tiger or a Command Tiger. Both types of Tiger had an antenna base on the right-hand hull roof, but the bases were different. For the standard Tiger it was the standard antenna base with a rubber foot, sitting upon the roof panel. For the Command Tiger, the rubber foot was placed on top of a ceramic insulator, and that was placed in a protective metal pot. Similar pots were used on other types of Command tank; this is an example.
On the Tiger 1, the pot was sunk into the roof with only the rim protruding. This German sketch shows its profile.
The pot, the insulator and the rubber base (with its short metal pole) were always present on a Command Tiger, on the right side. A standard rubber antenna base was always present on the left side. Only the antenna poles were optional.
Problems with the Command antenna
The part representing the metal pot is part T7, and it gets installed at step 13 of the instructions. But it's not a good representation of the real thing. It is very shallow, and it has nothing inside it. The rubber antenna foot sits directly on its shallow base.
In reality it should be quite deep and the ceramic insulator should be inside it. This is a diagram of the same antenna on another vehicle. The black rubber foot sits on top of the ceramic insulator (arrowed). The same insulator should be present in part T7.
