Turret ring

This kit has a small error on the hull top.

This version of the Tiger had a protective ring around the edge of the turret. The ring was made of three segments bolted to the hull top [1] .

All segments of the ring were interchangeable. But the designers were unable to use the same bolt positions in all three segments. There were too many items already fixed to the underside of the hull roof.

Therefore, they put enough holes in the segment to accomodate different bolt positions for the front, left and right parts of the ring. This CAD model shows all the holes in a segment.

Turret ring guard segment bolts

When a segment was bolted to the hull roof, 5 of its bolt holes were used and 2 were left empty. This diagram shows the positions of the empty ones. Distances are im millimeters. The kit's bolt holes are mostly in the wrong places. You should fill them, and drill holes as indicated above.
