About this detail of the Tiger

The instructions for this kit have an illustration of the assembled track and wheels.

Track installed on Trumpeter Late Tiger kit

Unfortunately, in Trumpeter's illustration, the track is too loose and it would not be seen in this state on an operational Tiger.

Track installed on a real Tiger

This well-maintained Tiger at Bovington Museum has the correct track tension. There should be a gap of three or four fingers between the foremost road wheel and the track (where indicated on this photo).

You can make gross adjustments to a Tiger's track tension by adding and removing track links. You can make fine adjustments by positioning the idler wheel arm, which is Part B1 in this kit. Trumpeter have designed Part B1 with a tab that locks it in position, hanging vertically down; but you can remove this and glue the arm up to 30 degrees from vertical in either direction.
