About this detail of the Tiger
Otto Carius used an Early Tiger in 1944, until it was destroyed in April. We next see photos of him in July, standing in the cupola of a Mid Tiger just before an action. We must assume that he was using this Mid Tiger at the time. There are other photos to prove that the number of this Tiger was 217.
This is the kind of track that Tiger 217 was carrying when it was new. In fact, photos prove that it had this kind of track in the winter of 1943/44, when it was whitewashed. But at that time Carius had no connection to Tiger 217.
The phorographs from July show this kind of tracks on Tiger 217. We don't know when they were installed or why, but reading the company's history we find that a series of long road marches in the Spring could have worn out the tank's original tracks.
In that case, the change of tracks most likely happened in May or June, when the weather made fighting impossible and the company repaired its tanks. And so the Tiger would have been using these "flat" tracks the whole time that Otto Carius commanded it.
This model kit contains the wrong type of track for the "Otto Carius Tiger".
