About this detail of the Tiger
The Tiger was originally designed with a narrow set of mudguards, front and rear. After a few months, wide folding mudguards were substituted.
The rear wall of the tank had two rectangular frames welded to it, to support the original narrow mudguards. For a while, the new folding mudguards were welded on top of these frames. But in the middle of 1943 these frames were eliminated. From that time forward, the folding mudguards were welded directly to the tank's rear wall.
The last Early Tigers had no frames, and they were not present in any Mid or Late Tigers.
Rye Field have provided this kit with the same rear wall (part B3) that they use on their Early Tiger kits. It has the two frames molded into it. You should cut them off.
