Numerous Tigers were demolished around Tunisia at the end of the fighting there, to avoid their capture. Nevertheless, Allied forces took an interest in the wreckage. This newsreel frame shows portions of the former Tiger 121 being removed on a British truck.
Nearest to us is the mantlet, still carrying the 88mm gun. Behind it, on the left, is the shell of the exploded turret. We can see one of the trunnions that carried the mantlet, and a vision port with its cover fallen open. Between them is a holder for a gas mask canister; it was placed here only in the first couple of dozen Tigers.
