Support for scissors scope in late cupola

The second kind of cupola has a support for the 'Scherenfernrohr' observation scope. This was designed in May 1944 [1] and was also used in the Tiger II. There was apparently a stowage position for the scope, under the roof to the left front of the commander; but I have seen no evidence of it.

I have never seen German drawings of the support. The only evidence that I know is a surviving support in the 'Saumur' vehicle. It seems to be incomplete. This is the remains of the support. It comprises a small U-shaped frame welded to the bottom edge of the cupola, and a long metal bar welded to the roof.

The frame seems to be a holder for a 10mm metal rod. The bottom of the rod is bent and may be a handle, but I don't know if it rotates.

The bar on the roof has a square cross-section and is about 160mm long.

The whole assembly is placed halfway between two of the periscopes.
