A standard item of equipment in German tanks was an inspection lamp for use while working in dark corners of the vehicle. The lamp is described in the British evaluation of the Tiger [2] like so:
"Magnet" inspection lamp 12V 15W with protective wire grid and 20' flex, with box
The box was a cylindrical metal can. It was stored in a sheet-metal holder within the tank, near the driver. This diagram shows the holder.
This is the holder from the Bovington vehicle [3] with its original paint and decal, which reads 'Magnetlampe'.
In the Tiger, the holder was bolted to the supporting beam behind the driver. This example from the surviving 'APG' Tiger [4] has lost its clip. (The entire vehicle has been painted grey by a museum.)
The holder is missing from the Tiger at Saumur museum [1] .
This diagram shows the box stored in the holder.
