For each MG in a Tiger, a box of tools was provided. This is one such box. The decal, now damaged, read "MG Werkzeug".
This museum example is missing all its tools, but the holders give an idea of the contents.
These are the dimensions of the box.
The toolbox for the turret MG was located in the rear right-hand corner of the fighting compartment, fixed to an ammunition holder near the floor. In this museum Tiger, which has been repainted, the box is missing but we can see its fixing holes.
By the end of the Tiger's production run this box had been raised a little higher. I don't know when this happened.
The toolbox for the hull-front MG was located on the roof support behind the radio operator.
In Befehlstigers, this box was moved to the location shown here, because of the extra radio equipment carried in those vehicles. The other box was not present because the turret had no MG.
