Drain hole in gun sleeve
Saúl Garcia has pointed out a detail of the Tiger that I was unaware of. There is a hole in the bottom of the gun sleeve. This photo of the Tiger at Vimoutiers shows it clearly.

The hole is very difficult to see in most photographs. The 'Aberdeen' vehicle provides the best view, because somebody has installed its sleeve upside down (probably American intelligence, who studied the tank after capture).

Inside the rear of the sleeve, there was originally a rubber seal for waterproofing. This hole is forward of that seal. Later Tigers did not have the underwater capability, so this hole may have been used to drain rainwater, or it may simply have been left on the drawings as an oversight.
