Cyberhobby 6350 : engine hatch

Kit instructions

The kit instructions offer two ways to build the engine hatch; with or without support legs. Unfortunately, both of the options are incorrect.

Holes for handles

There are two sets of holes for the handles. You should open up the forward holes. Do not use the rear holes in any circumstances.

Support leg for engine hatch

Two support legs were added to the engine hatch in late April 1943 [1, see 3.4.1.7] . This is the time when Wittman's tank was built. We don't know whether he had these items on his tank. The choice is yours.

Support leg for engine hatch

The units are supposed to be workable, but this is a real test of your modelling skill! There is a locator pin underneath each unit; cut it off.

Support leg position

The instructions tell you to place the legs behind the handles. This is an error. This position was not used until later.

Support leg position

This is the correct position of the legs on the Wittman tank.

Support leg position

The base meets the edge of the hatch.
